Navy destroys litres of diesel

A patrol team of the Nigerian Navy ship NNS Pathfinder has raided some illegal refineries in Rivers state.
Premium Times reports that the team carried out the raid in support of Operation
Delta Safe in the Taraba Jetty axis of the state on Wednesday, December 28.
At the jetty, the Naval team destroyed 2 barges, one of which was loaded with an estimated 70,000 litres of diesel. The second was loaded with mixture of diesel and water.
Another patrol team of FOB ESCRAVOS carried out a raid on an illegal refining site, newly-constructed, at Asafama village near Jones Creek in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state.
Premium Times reports that the naval operatives acted on intelligence report and caught the criminals red-handed.
The team destroyed the site including a large storage pit which has unspecified quantity of illegally refined diesel. One person was arrested in connection with the site as other suspects fled the scene.
Just recently, members of the Niger Delta Avengers in the creeks of Delta state clashed with troops of Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe (ODS).
The troops of Sector 1 of ODS were said to have encountered the militants and engaged them in a gun duel at the Batan-Egwa creeks in Warri South-west Local Government Area of the state.
