With the naming of Ibrahim, it meant that Eyitayo Jegede, a former commissioner who was thrown
up by the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, had been rejected.

Residents of the state are currently infuriated with some saying they would not support Ibrahim. The anger spread across the state capital this morning with irate residents blocking major roads and setting bonfires to protest against Ibrahim.

During the protest, both social and business activities were paralysed while banks and some other corporate and commercial  offices could not open on time for business.
Officers and men of the Ondo State Police Command were also present at major streets of the town to maintain the law and order.
However no life was lost in the protest.
