10 Month Old Baby dies after being 'sexually assaulted

Emmaleigh

A 10-month-old baby girl has died after allegedly being sexually assaulted by her mum's new boyfriend in the basement of her home.
Little Emmaleigh Barringer was discovered 'bleeding' on the floor of the dark room by her horrified mother, Amanda Adkins, police say.
The 'unresponsive' youngster was rushed to hospital in a critical condition following the alleged attack in West Virginia, US, on Monday morning.
However, she tragically passed away yesterday after being declared brain dead.
Amanda's partner, Benjamin Taylor, 32, was arrested and charged with first degree sexual assault after Emmaleigh was discovered injured in the basement.
His charges will be upgraded to murder this morning following the little girl's death, Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs told WSAZ 3 .
It comes as Emmaleigh's distraught relatives have paid tribute to the youngster, describing her as a 'sweet innocent baby' who fought for her life.
Her cousin, Danielle Adkins, said: "My heart is so broken. Rest peacefully, beautiful."
Her aunt, Amber Adkins, had earlier written on Facebook: "It is with an extremely broken heart to announce that our sweet innocent baby girl's fight is over.
"She has succumbed to her extensive injuries.
"Please continue to pray for our family for we are completely devastated."
Benjamin Taylor, 32, is expected to be arraigned on a murder charge this morning

She later added: "I will always have this empty feeling, my poor angel."
And Emmaleigh's mum changed her profile picture on the site to one of her and her tragic daughter, with a fox filter covering both of their faces.
Amanda called 911 after reportedly waking up and finding her daughter lying 'bleeding' in the basement, with the lights all turned off.
When police arrived at the house in Ripley, they found the mum holding her child, who was allegedly covered in a 'significant' amount of blood.
Deputies later discovered blood on blankets and clothing inside the basement, it is reported.
